Remember… the first time you were in a Pine Forest, sensations enhanced and awakened as you identified the richness of knotty pine walls in a real cabin, inhaling the constant fresh scent of pine trees, wildflowers, examining each little “rock” you picked up, cause you didn’t have rocks like that where you were from…Remember…a campfire….long sticks needed to thread marshmallows on, and learning to turn brown and puff them up evenly, (and learning the patience it takes to let them cool, just enough not to burn your tongue). Remember….looking up at over 3000 stars, feeling as though they were all yours. And don’t forget the first star light, of the night.  A little walk here, and there, with no fear…in the forest, yet safe, warm, as close camping as one can get without all the work!  Plenty of deer, i.e. mule, whitetail, as well as cross breeds of the two do exist. My deer are red in color ,, so they are very uncommon, with most deer being gray.  These are more the Stag Red of Europe. The critters who spend their day in the forest, away from roads and man, each night make their way up French Creek and around West Dam just an hour or two before sunset and rest there till the next day.  An occasional elk is seen, too. With all the natural creeks and dams in front of your cabin, you will see animals you didn’t know existed.  My favorite fellow to watch is our local woodchuck. His kids have finally found mates and he is a grandpa finally…he was so alone when his mate went to better hunting grounds!!!

Smell:
Brewing a fresh cup of coffee, toast/ bacon, watching the day begin. A quick morning Stroll 4 minutes over a hill, drop in a pole, catch a crappie or perch, bluegill, even trout. 16 and under are free to fish. It’s all here. And very few can offer this much for such an affordable price with all the amenities that will save you money, too!!  You will truly remember these days gone by and come to realize they can be revisited. All the while making a new memory that doesn’t let you down….just enhances those days not really so long ago after all!  Esp. if you share it with someone you love and care about! Kids love it, and tell me “this place rocks!”
